BigAdda.com, which is touted to be India’s pioneering youth networking site, surely has to do a lot to prove itself and establish a different niche for itself in a country that’s already heavily entrapped by Orkut, Facebook and the likes. But indeed, the Reliance ADA group’s baby is working hard and seems to be getting there.
The latest development made to BigAdda is the incorporation of Web 2.0, which is the new version of the World Wide Web, and is being used at a large scale by various other social networking sites too. Web 2.0 helps in making sites richer, more user friendly and more interactive too.
The inclusion of Web 2.0 had kicked off during the logo selection process, where through a user poll the best official logo for BigAdda had to be selected. Furthermore, BigAdda has intelligently extracted the significant feature interactivity of Web 2.0 in the form of scribbles, blogs and of course the ‘Friends only’ feature which allows users to have complete privacy of their data.
Currently users can upload and download videos and pictures, but in the very near future, they will be able to upload music on BigAdda, allowing them to cater to their need to self-express by sharing their media collection within their network of friends. Thus, making the site a rich user content driven portal.
Speaking about the incorporation of Web 2.0, Siddhartha Roy, Chief Operating Officer, BigAdda said, “With the increasing broadband penetration and growing use of Web 2.0, the Indian web industry is about to see a tremendous growth across the online spectrum. About 54% of the Indians are below 25 years of age and this TG constitutes our core userbase. Going further, we at BigAdda plan to incorporate more features using Web 2.0 making this site further interactive and exciting for our users the moment they log onto it.”
Apart from the addition of Web 2.0, BigAdda had another announcement to make too.
